Ornamental leeks include a variety of robust, perennial shrubs that impress with their spherical inflorescences in various colors (white, purple, pink, blue). They are popular garden plants for borders and rock gardens, usually flower in late spring to early summer and attract numerous insects.
Plant bulbs in the fall so that they go through a cold period (winter dormancy) Avoid waterlogging to prevent rotting After flowering, do not cut off the leaves immediately until they have completely yellowed - they then store nutrients for the following year Ornamental leeks are very bee-friendly and attract many pollinators Propagate via bulbs or seeds (seeds are less reliable) For vigorous growth, provide with organic fertilizer in spring if necessary (The harvest time stands for the flowering period, as the ornamental leeks are not harvested)
